Development of the Fencing Wheelchair

The development of a fencing wheelchair marks a significant stride towards inclusivity and innovation in the world of fencing and is an exciting addition to the RMA Sport product portfolio. We have collaborated with our partners at British Fencing, who provided invaluable feedback in refining the design, to ensure the specification is both practical and flexible to cater for the needs of the athletes.

After an intensive period of R&D and initial product prototypes, which included live testing and invaluable feedback from both the GB Fencing support team and athletes who contributed to refining the design, the RMA Fencing chair is suitable for multiple use within a club environment to accommodate various athlete’s needs.

We believe that functionality and performance are essential elements in the design of our chairs which is why our wheelchairs are made to measure, not adjusted to fit.

Frame made from 1” steel tube
Colour – Matt Black.
Three standard seat widths – 360mm, 400mm & 440mm.
4” foam cushion.
Quick release Leopard 24” sport wheels – fitted as standard with solid primo tyres & pushrim.
Interchangeable armrest, can be fitted left or right with 10mm clear polycarbonate arm guard.
Height adjustable backrest with removeable aluminium plate.
Solid fixed aluminium seat plate.
Adjustable footrest.

PRODUCTION

We use the very latest technology that includes Contour Body Mapping®, CAD design, Pressure Mapping, Laser Alignment, Tig Welding and CNC machinery.

TESTING

When we decided to test our first wheelchair chair we were forced to ship it to the TUV Rheinland test facility in the Netherlands as we were unable to find a UK test house.
